Reduced the pitch 2 inches, balanced it and sandblasted it! Looks like new. $70.

Prop hunt

Galvanic corrosion over the years has weakened our prop to the point that we lost a sizeable chunk. Today’s big task is finding a used prop that’ll fit. There aren’t many sailboat props in the stores around here so it looks like the size and pitch will be changing a bit.

Chunk of our prop is missing

The water was so clear today that we could see a crescent shaped chunk missing from our prop. Couldn’t be better or worse timing. This explains why our engine violently shakes and possibly why the shaft seal leaks so much. New game plan for the day is to fix the prop!
