Land Ho! Key West off the starboard bow!

Posted by – June 9, 2010

Just picked up cell service. Crazy night last night. We spent the whole night running from squalls that lined up 20 miles off key west. Had big seas and blew out two sails in the thunderstorms we couldn’t avoid. Made good time at first but light winds for about 24 hours. Only motored the last 30 miles or so though. We got about 2 hours of sleep each in 15 min catnaps. Delerious. Soo ready to sleep. About 2 hours until we drop anchor.

Way to go Steve and Jen!!! We’ve all been watching the SPOT path wondering how you guys were faring. Looks like you made it through and are now able to get some well-deserved rest. What was it like trying to skirt those storms?

Keep the posts coming. Everyone in DC, NOLA and CENLA looks forward to the updates!

BTW, Lucy is completely in awe of Sandy’s adventurous spirit and fearlessness in the face of danger :)

Me and Jess have been following you on SPOT.. We saw the back-tracking a bit from last night… Cool that you made it. I have a software upgrade at 5am tomorrow… You do not.. Be thankful for that :)
