Cabbage Key is made up of rental cottages and a restaurant/inn/marina. The main building is run on solar, has 6 fireplaces, 5 porches, a storm shelter and a rain water system with 25,000 gallon storage built into the reinforced concrete foundation. The main building was built on an Indian shell mound, 38 feet above sea level. Cabbage Key was bought for $2,500 in 1929 as a winter estate for Alan & Gratia Rinehart. Overnight dockage runs $1.85/ft. Showers are available to those who stay in the marina.
