Broke the boat. Got it better. Safely anchored now.

So, today we: made a wrong turn, ran aground. Turned around and got out of the locks after some tense moments. Bumped bottom a bit where the chart reads “avoid hard rocky shoal.” It didn’t seem hard. Had the engine running great for a while. Had the engine die. Realized we needed to replumb the fuel lines to get it right. Got it right. Filled the engine with seawater. Got the seawater out. Bled the lines 7 times. Got going. Raised some sail, yay! Set a new speed record for the boat, YAY! Got to the anchorage right at dusk. Ran aground. Hard. Floated off. Set the anchor. Swung around. Set a stern anchor. Wired the fridge for 12v. Wired a gps and antenna forward for an anchor alarm.
They say everything is better after some sleep. We’ll see. Making a list of things to fix and going to bed.

Through the lock!

On our way to the locks.

Good morning! We didn’t drag or sink last night. Off to Boca Grande today. 8-9 hour trip.

Mosquito carnage.

The whole boat looks like this. Thanks for the mosquito net, Dave and B. It really saved our asses.

Settled in at anchor. Mosquitoes are bad. Really bad.

We set up the mosquito net that Dave gave us and the solar bug zappers that we got from Boater’s World. Thanks Dave.
We forgot a part we ended up needing back in the car so we anchored a bit before we wanted to and I took the dinghy back to the car. It ended up taking a few hours and it rained a bit but we have everything to make the trip tomorrow. The engine ran like a champ. My alignment efforts paid off. I’m sure the new cutlass bearing helped too. The engine’s electrical system is being funky though. I’ll need to re- wire it when I replace the mounts.
We didn’t sell nearly as much as we wanted to yesterday but we traded for some stuff we needed. I picked up a spare air for $10. That was deal of the day

Steven brought back flowers from his dinghy trip! Anchored in the lake tonight.
