Umm, the boat is shaking around on it’s jack stands. Loud thunder, close strikes.
Rain and some wind from Ana is coming in today. Securing the hatches and tarps.
Time to start hurricane/ts prep/planning. Hoping Hurricane Bill doesn’t ruin our sail to Key West.
Heavy rainstorms today. The moat filled and almost floated the dinghies.
Found matching foul weather gear at the Oakley outlet. Candy tried some on too.
Rainy days aren’t good in the boatyard. Most of our belongings are outside in bins under a tarp. Hope it stays dry!
Bad thunderstorm is blowing up. 30kt gust just now. 1 anchor out.
Just finished situating the deck. Our anchor seems pretty set but we are swinging around a good bit. Anchor alarm is set and will alert us if we start dragging. In that event, we will need to brave the rain/ wind and reset the plow and deploy the second anchor. For now, we sit below with hatches closed, sweating. It’s hot in here!
Hoping this was the last of the tropical wave that came by. Should be normal afternoon thunderstorms for a while now.
View of Bimini Basin + a hungry stingray. Bad weather coming. Not a chance of leaving for at least 2 days.
If you look close you can see the fins of a stingray that has been circling the boat for a few minutes now. Weather looks grim and there is a noticeable coolness in the air. Expecting to get some nasty rain and wind over the next few days. Much more nasty than the usual afternoon showers. Too hairy to try and pull anchor though we would like to be on our way to Sanibel/Captiva. Maybe Wednesday or Thursday. Steven’s birthday is on Sunday and we really want to be settled for a few days in a more tropical like anchorage. We most likely will have to motor out of Bimini Basin with all our tarps up.
