32′ Pearson $12k

Cute paint job, ugly deck rot on the interior that very well may be smaller than the 32′ Endeavour from yesterday. It was pretty clean though and the galley was a bit nicer than the Endeavour’s. I don’t think there was a shower and there was no quarter berth. There was a bit of rust on the rigging and a bit of deck softness just forward of the mast. This isn’t the boat for us. It doesn’t even feel like a suitable backup either.

Probably too small but I thought the ad was sufficient for a first look. Steven and I visited a few marinas today in St. Pete only to find them all locked. We came upon this 30′ named Chunky Monkey on the sea wall of the Municipal Marina. The ad listed is a time saver. Listing the price upfront is a great thing for those in the market for a boat.

32′ Endeavour $7k

Steven and I were really hoping that we would have strong feelings for this one. Even though it’s a bit small, it’s a good price and would allow us to make some other upgrades. I really disliked the galley and the owners personal effects were in every nook and cranny. The flooring really needs attention as does the water drip in the engine. Also, the dog that lived aboard gave Steven a headache! He yapped non stop. In the end, this may be a possibility if we are hard up.

33′ Contest $15k – No engine!

Nice old man. He is a bachelor looking for a First Mate. Awwww. Really smelly boat. Steven and I spent about 15 minutes aboard this 33′ Contest. I could make a really bad pun right now but Steven advises against that idea. This boat has no working engine, has a tiller and really needs mass amounts of work on the interior and exterior. The cool thing though is that this dude was grandfathered in to the marina after they stopped allowing liveaboards many years ago. He lives in the heart of Clearwater Beach. The asking price is $15,000. It would be a struggle for me to want to pay $3,000.

35′ C&C $30k

The boat was donated to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, as are many others. After being donated, the boats are sold and the money goes to fund the Aquarium. Pretty cool way to go about fundraising. The C&C was very clean, roomy and cozy. New cushions. Like new engine. Good autohelm. Nice galley. Nice cockpit. With a few extras such as batteries, coast guard package and a clean bilge this is hard to pass up. Steven and I are thinking of making an offer that would better fit our budget. Hey, it’s worth a try. It was so nice to finally go on a boat that was pretty much “all together.” I vote this Keeper Of The Day.
